• Fritti Tailchaser: Fritti is like any other cat, but one with a lust for adventure. When his friend Hushpad goes missing, he insists on going to find her. He is a brave and considerate cat, but not at all one who is entirely clever. Tailchaser usually relies on other characters (Pouncequick and Roofshadow, to name only a couple) when a puzzling situation arises. More than once does Fritti find himself in an undesirable situation thanks to his lack in quick wit and planning.What he lacks in cunning though, he makes up for in loyalty and patience. Through his many journeys Tailchaser is tried and tested, but he presses on, determined to rescue Hushpad from whatever fate that may have befallen her.He is a strong listener, and an unnaturally caring cat.
• Pouncequick: Pouncequick was the faithful young friend to Fritti Tailchaser. He went with him on his adventure to find Hushpad. Along the way he was injured and lost his tail, but gained a whole new outlook on life and became wise beyond his years.
• Roofshadow: The young female cat that Tailchaser and Pouncequick met at Firsthome. They became fast friends with her and she accompanied them through the hard times they went through on their search for Hushpad.

Despite the fact that this book is about animals, I would not recommend it for the very young. Some of the bad guys are pretty hideous and I think the action is too intense for the very young.
