Simmons has crafted a captivating take on the Canterbury Tales that is utterly fantastic, and yet, totally believable. A future world wrapped in a mystery spun out over a compelling yarn that never stops. Buy the sequel at the same time, since you will certainly want to read it at once. Perhaps the best science fiction genre I have ever read, and I've read them all. Easily the equal of Clarke, Bradbury, Asimov and Herbert. Stop reading this review and get it now.”

I am impressed with the author's linking of six related, UNFINISHED stories in this fashion. Which brings me to the other thing I didn't expect: a continued story. Now I have to find and read "The Fall of Hyperion!" ”
