This is a collection of stories related to the Gaiman’s Sandman saga. The stories here are either hits or misses but nevertheless memorable such as “Escape Artist” by Kiernan which is not perfect but it’s interesting and touching. My favorites are “Stopp't-Clock Yard”, which I thing captures the essence of Gaiman’s Sandman (Morpheus in the story was rendered perfectly—a deity who is swift to anger but patient on the extremes) and “Ain’t You Most Done” by Gene Wolfe, which is a charming tale that presents to us a perfect representation of the Dreaming.
The anthology introduced me to several authors I haven’t heard of and made me interested to look further into their own works (such as Tad Williams and Gene Wolfe). Overall, the collection features many stories that are excellent and readable. Though I wish some authors could’ve done more with the material Sandman has to offer.”
“You can never go wrong with a little Neil G. in your life.”
