UP TO ME picks up right where DOWN TO YOU left off. But where I was excited at the beginning of the first book, this one started off on a different note for me. Why, you ask? Because I am not in love with the heroine of this story.
Olivia is a lot of the same in this book. She’s struggling with loving a bad boy and following her heart. Having taken away the messy sort of triangle, she’s left with just Cash to lust after. Except because of the dangers that surround him they have to keep their relationship private.
But there is one redeeming quality to this book. Cash! I liked him even more than before because this book is all about blending Cash and Nash and giving us the best combination hero you could ever want. He’s determined to help his father, he’s bad ass because he wants to face the Russian mob and he knows his way around a woman’s body. Cash is the perfect recipe hero to melt your heart and panties off.
When I thought this story would be full of intrigue but that I knew where it was going, the author throws another curve ball. I’m starting to feel whiplash about this! It’s an unexpected turn that’s for sure, but it adds to the “woe, is me” vibe some of the characters in this story have going for them.
Aside from a hero that is driving my interest for this story and a decently intriguing (if a bit over the top) storyline, I don’t have a strong urge to read these but I am curious by the twist at the end enough that I’ll be reading the conclusion.

“UP TO ME is the second storyline in M. Leighton’s contemporary romance, erotic THE BAD BOYS series focusing on the Davenport males and Olivia Townsend. Picking up immediately following the end of the first book DOWN TO YOU, we discover along with the characters that although the old man is in jail waiting to prove his innocence, he still has some big time connections and enemies on the outside. When Cash must call in a few favors, he will learn that the last few years of his life have been built on a lie and a family secret. Threats against those he loves will force Cash to make some decisions he would have otherwise never done.
Although this particular book was released a few months ago, I will not give away the twist to the storyline but suffice to say Cash’s reaction was both expected as well as unexpected under the circumstances. Cash had been living a double life for years but when the reality of the situation presents itself he is beyond angry at those who perpetrated a bigger ruse.
The relationship between Olivia and Cash continues to be hot and sexy; Cash knows exactly how to literally bring Olivia to her knees. There is one scene in particular that would make most women blush but in the end, how many of us would put ourselves on display for everyone to see.
We are introduced to a few new characters including Gavin, a smart-mouthed, smooth-talking Aussie who seems to know exactly what to do and how to do it every time. I am hoping that M. Leighton gives Gavin his own spin-off series because I would like to see what the man is capable of doing with his skill and expertise. Marissa (Olivia’s cousin) plays a secondary role but one that appears to be heading in a more pivotal role in book 3.
The storyline is written from two points of view-Olivia and Cash. Many readers take issue with first person POV and even more so with the back and forth between characters, but there are times when we, as readers, need to get inside the ‘others’ head. Wouldn’t we all like to know what our favorite hero/heroine is thinking.
UP TO ME is a storyline of betrayal and suspense; love and hate; with a twist and a few turns. The characters are an interesting mix of family, friends and extended connections. M. Leighton continues the series with the release of Everything For Us in September 2013. It will be Marissa’s story-one that began in Down To You but I hope to see some resolution between Cash and his family, as well as a more permanent arrangement between Olivia and Cash.

“If I'm honest, I don't know what to say about this book. Even as I try to think of words that sum it up, my eyes are beginning to burn with un-shed tears. This book was... something really special. I have so much love for Cash and Olivia, they are one of my most favourite book couples EVER.
This is actually one of the hardest reviews I have ever tried to write. I have a jumble of words in my head but none of them are coming to the forefront of my brain to make sense.
Olivia thought that she was through with bad boys until she met Cash Davenport. He's sure got the charm and charisma down pat. He's as sexy as they come with his gorgeous smile and his onyx eyes, he's sure easy on the eye. But is a relationship with him just futile or will it end in a happily ever after?
How do you have a happily ever after when you're life is turned upside down and inside out? It's damn hard but is it impossible? That's what Olivia and Cash have to figure out.
They've already been through so much together and they deserve an honest chance at a happy life. But Cash's past threatens to overcome them.
What to say without ruining the story for those of you who haven't read it? Well, I'm not entirely sure. All I can really say is, the action really hots up in this book. If you thought Down to You was a fast-paced, well-written, action-packed roller coaster ride then you will have to buckle yourself in for the bumpy ride that is Up To Me.
I'm reminded of a song by my favourite band, Lady Antebellum - here's the video:
There's plenty of Cash for the fan-girls that fell head over heels for him last time. The sex scenes between him and Olivia start off hot and only get hotter and hotter from there on in.
The fact is, I loved this book. But more than that, I lived it. Once I opened the first page it was like diving head-first into their lives.
Olivia still has twinges of uncertainty about where this is all going, but she has a steely resolve that makes her such a fantastic character.
Cash is unsure whether he can love anyone, even Olivia. But he over-thinks things and complicates things for himself. If he went with his heart, then he'd see things a lot more clearly. You can see by the way he treats her, the way he is fiercely protective of her, that there is something deep there in his heart.
I have always been a sucker for the bad boy and Cash stole my heart the moment in book one where he said "... I'm Cash Davenport..." I was just like Gah! He is sex on legs! He's naughty and sexy and seduces Olivia whilst stealing her heart as well as mine.
The fact there was a mind[bleep] of a twist in this story, well that just had me dumbfounded. Michelle Leighton managed to completely mess with my mind. The old saying goes "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me too." Well holy Hell, shame on me! I just didn't see it coming. I wanted to gush to my best friend but she has only read book one, so I was like "Ack! you have to read it, NOW!" and I can't wait until she has read it so that I can talk to her without spoiling things ahead of time.
I actually swear that my heart pretty much forgot to beat as this bombshell was detonated. Damn you, Michelle. You amazing woman!!
The whole book actually had me on the very edge of my seat. From the action scenes to the hot sex scenes that were interspersed - I loved everything this story had to tell. How Michelle manages to write a very sexy, steamy book, yet have a real storyline underlined with enough action to pack a mean punch, I will never know.
The one thing I can hand on heart say is that this book pulled me under and still hasn't released it's grip on my heart even though I finished it yesterday and have read another book since. That alone is testament to what an extraordinary author Michelle Leighton is.
I am really excited about the next book and I am not sure I can go without a Davenport boys fix in the meantime.
At the end of this book, I wrote on Goodreads..."For the life of me I don't know why I haven't read these books til now, cos now all I can think of is "life was so dull until Cash Davenport strode into it" - I have fierce love for Cash and Olivia, but most of all for Michelle Leighton - an author I would miss truly if she were to ever stop giving the world her stories."
And damn it that's is one of the truest things I have ever written!
Thank you Michelle for creating 2 of the best books I have read this year. Whilst I'm glad I had them both to read back to back, I really wish I had the rest of the series because it's like Cash Davenport is the best kind of drug and I am a junkie jonesing for my next fix.

“I so wish you could give half stars; this needs 3.5 stars! This book was way better than the first one, more suspense (still not enough), more drama, and less of Olivia acting like a complete idiot (although she did have a moment). I liked it..I will say that there's a good bit of hot sex packed into such a tiny book, if you're looking to spice up your love life without too much of a commitment. It's not raunchy or anything. This book would've earned a better rating from me if the age-old love cliches weren't so bountiful. A girl came only take so much of the "he's my hero" "our eyes met across the crowded bar" or "when he stared into my eyes, it was like the whole world around us stopped" Bullshit! Oh and, *SPOILER ALERT* The next book is supposed to be from Nash's perspective; I'm not sure about that. We'll have to see; I'm emotionally invested, so I'll be buying it anyways.”Felicia wrote this review Thursday, April 4, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“If You read book one "Down To You" and thought it was amazing and super sexy with a side of deliciousness well get ready because book two is going to BLOW YOU AWAY!!! With some jaw dropping surprises you won't even see coming...and more Bad Boy Sexy Moments! It'll have you flipping the pages faster and faster until your left wanting so much more! It's already killing me to have to wait for book three! lol
Cash and Olivia are back and hotter then ever but just when they thought things couldn't get worse they get some shocking surprises.. Cash is thrown back into his past and trying to save those he loves and cares about!”
“I re-read the first one before starting this and actually like it better the second time around. Although I liked the first better, I still enjoyed this. The mob stuff seemed a little hokey at times. Strangely, my biggest problem with this book is that it looks like Marissa may be the love interest in the next book with a new lead man. Ugh.... No thanks. Her relationship with Nash was my biggest confusion with the first book - was he using her to get to her father - was she just good in bed - were they dating for two weeks or two years?? Just why?? It was never explained but considering all he did was insult Marissa during this book I'm going to guess he was using her. I was actually starting to get a little irritated by all the insults since he apparently didn't dislike her enough to end the relationship when he started pursuing Olivia. I may like reading about bad boys but I'm not a fan of cheaters -even fake ones. And then even after Marissa figures out the twist from book 1, she still wants to talk to Nash - why exactly? He's not the same person - dumbass. Could you be more shallow? Sorry I needed to vent on Marissa....very disappointed if she's going to be in the next book.”Tanya B wrote this review Monday, February 4, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? “Hhhhmmm... sadly I have mixed feelings about the second instalment of The Bad Boys series. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it because I did, I just didn't enjoy it as much as Down to You. But there was one thing that really drove me insane... Olivia.
I am not going to hold back at all when I talk about Olivia... she drove me crazy in this book. She grated on me a little in Down to You but there were so many times I wanted to slap her this go around. In fact there is one scene where I was so upset with the decisions she was making that I actually had to put my Kindle down and contemplated skipping ahead. I just can not understand her thought processes most of the time and when I can't understand why a character is doing something it makes me start to question the entire plot.
Honest to goodness, plain and simple... stupid decisions were made time after time by Olivia. Gggrrrrrr.....
“Do me a favor,” he whispers, curling my fingers over the back of his and bringing them to his mouth. “What?” His eyes never leave mine as he brushes his lips over my knuckles. “Dream of me tonight,” he says softly.
Thankfully there is Cash and it is because of him that still made me enjoy this book. I am so thankful that this is a dual POV book so that we can get into his head. I love him. He is snarky, loveable, confident, adorable and a complete badass. I love how much he cares for Olivia and everything he does to keep her safe. And the sexy times? Hot as ever!
There is a lot more action in this second instalment and another huge twist! I wouldn't say the book ended on a cliffhanger but it was just enough to get you excited for book three. In the end I would still suggest this series and I will still read the next book when it is released. If for nothing else I need more Davenport in my life.
“You haven't failed me. You've breathed so much life into my existence. Don't ever be sorry for that.”
