Decided not to finish this. The science and plotting are too dated, and not in a good way.

Story about the race and exodus from Earth, the development of hyper-assistance and eventually superluminal space travel. It's also the inspiration for Sid Meier's game Alpha Centauri. The fist time I read it the relationships seemed angry, I just listened to an abridged version that cuts this fluff out and was much more enjoyable.

a story with many plots, which come together finally on the satellite erythro, belonging to the nemesian system, a system which will destroy earth. the main plus of the story is that all the characters are complex , realistic and deep enough.. and the novel is racy. though this doesn't belong to any particular series of asimov, this is a nice novel.

There seem to be two separate books by the same name, though not by the same author of course.

This one is about various concepts that are on edge of human knowledge, some well known to scientists and some known but not accepted by them.

Amongst the former is that of a brown dwarf - an object that is between a star and a planet in that it gives a very dim glow, and orbits another star that is not dim.

The latter is - or rather includes - a concept about a conscious planet, much more fully explored in the Foundation series.

This is an escapist novel of intergalactic exploration and alien contact. Asimov generally weaves a good story, and this one is full of characters who are self-consciously making history. Once he mentioned that he never edits his work, and this could definitely have used some editing. Occasionally, mostly in the beginning, he gets pedantic and repetitious. But you keep turning the pages, just so you can find out what happens.

There are two characters I enjoyed in this book, one, Marlene (Mar-LAY-na) who has a talent for seeing through to what people feel & think but aren't saying because she's sensitive to people's body language, and another that I won't detail so you can find out if you read the book. Kindof like a Stephen King book, Nemesis didn't get addicting until about page 100. Worth the read because of the character Marlene. Rereadability: 8/10. Family friendly: 9/10. Future tech fun: 8/10.

This is one of the most interesting written books by Asimov. Not because of the story, but the way he tells the story: at first, the chapters are switch between past and "present" and, when past finally catches up, they switch between character, till the finally met in the final chapters. It is really interesting to read the book while you keep building the blocks which explain the whole story.
