Courtney Milan does it again- writing a beautiful novella that encompasses so much emotion, yearning and wonderful characters. This is a romance with the handsome village doctor and a maiden whose past the doctor had witnessed 5 years earlier. Lydia was badly scarred with her experience but had kept a brave front since so one knew of her experience except her family. So when Jonas recognized her Lydia was livid. But for Jonas what he felt was a deep attraction that never waned. I love how fleshed out these characters were. The story was full of information on medical trivia that was consistent during that period. But what I loved most of all was the romantic scene near the last chapter. This novella far surpasses other full length novels I have read.
