Read this book twice as a teen and really loved it. Fun read, even as an adult.

I promised that I won't add any of the kiddie/teeny stuff I read in grade school, BUT I want to make an exception with "The Starlight Crystal" by Christopher Pike... Aside from being my first sci-fi novel, it's the FIRST book that I considered a favorite. It hooked me so much that I tried to tell the story to other people who'd listen, interested or not. I even had a theme song for the entire novel - Lost in Space by the Lighthouse Family. After a decade, I STILL love the book. I can still summon up the feeling and sentiments it gave me.

I loved this book so much, I know it's a teeny book, but it is very deep and a lovley story over MANY lifetimes.

    Its an old, old story.
Girl meets guy, girl likes guy, girl only has a week left before she gets into a space ship to leave Earth and orbit the solar system as close to light speed as posable so that when they come back a year latter a thousand years have gone by on Earth and they are a living time capsle. However they get attacked by aliens and the girl has to use an escape pod. Then things start to get a little weird. How weird? The book starts out with her being afraid an old lady is going to pull out a gun, instead of the hankey she does pull out. By the end of the book we find out that the old lady is her future self, only not really her future self. More like the future vershion of an alternet self that comes from an alternet universe.
