Detailed Synopsis of Samhain:

Prologue:
In Cape Elizabeth, Maine, which is one of the seven Genesis Grounds of Evil, Siobahn CuCullen, who is a powerful Triune Conjurer, attempts to stop a boss demon named Baal from bringing the snake demon Orochi into this world. Baal and Orochi prove to be too powerful for Siobahn but they have trouble defeating her, so Baal makes her an offer: The life of her two sons for her own. She accepts.

Chapter 1:

Part1:
Many years later at a funeral for Paulette Goode in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, we are introduced to Sian Boru, Rabbi Justiz, Father Mueller, Graham Stonefeather, Mallory Fergus, Brian Cucullen, his sixteen year old son Kieran, and twelve year old son Liam.

Part 2:
The scene shifts to the CuCullen home. Liam overhears his father and Mallory speaking in their kitchen. He discovers that Liam and Kieran are to go to a new school in Scotland called Samhain.

Chapter 2:

Part 1:
Kieran and his father fight over his leaving Maine.

Part 2:
They begin the trip to Samhain.

Chapter 3:

Part 1:
Their trip continues.

Part 2:
It is night and they arrive at Loch Ness, the location of Samhain. Immediately, Mallory takes them away to discuss some things.

Chapter 4:
Part 1:

At breakfast in the eating hall Kieran and Liam are introduced to their special tutors and their maols, spiritual guides.

Part 2:
Brian CuCullen leaves to get the rust off by training with Master Mifune at Avalon. Liam and Kieran get to know their tutors and Maols.

Chapter 5:

Part 1:
Kieran begins to train and finds out that he is far behind even the lowest rated Ardal Cathal (warrior) and he is supposed to be an Aongus Cathal (top warrior) and potential Tiarnan.

Part 2:
After paying tribute to Arthur at his tomb, Brian begins training on Avalon with Master Mifune.

Chapter 6:

Part 1:
Kieran meets Boris Diaghilev and his beautiful niece Nadia, who is the top Aongus Cathal in the school and a potential Tiarnan.

Part 2:
Liam is introduced to Sian’s other two special students.

Chapter 7

Part 1:
Master Mifune and Brian CuCullen finishes his re-training.

Part 2:
Kieran beats the time Diaghilev sets in a special running of the obstacle course. Diaghilev then sets the new challenge for Kieran.

Chapter 8:

Part 1:
School term begins.

Part 2:
Brian CuCullen arrives in New York. With the help of Bene Lumen in New York he starts hunting the werewolf.

Chapter 9:

Part 1:
Liam is introduced to Brother Zheng, one of the best teachers at Samhain.

Part 2:
Brian saves a young girl from a werewolf.

Chapter 10:

Part 1:
The first Ruadh game.

Part 2:
Brian CuCullen and the Bene Lumen track the werewolf.

Chapter 11:

Part 1:
Kieran begins extra training with Nadia under the tutelage of Boris. This is her idea. They begin a tentative friendship.

Part 2:
Liam attends Brother Zheng’s class on vampires, which are one of the most powerful creatures, along with Demons, they will face.

Chapter 12:

Part 1:
It is Halloween. Sian Boru takes Liam to a special spot on Samhain in order to enter a trance to contact Merlin. He tells Liam that he is more than a Triune Conjurer; he is a fulcrum and Kieran is his champion.

Part 2:
A trap is set for Brian CuCullen by the Illuminatii.

Chapter 13

Part 1:
We are introduced to Caleb Keane, the vampire with a pure soul.

Part 2:
Liam has entered a Conjurer’s Maze tournament. It is a trap. He survives but his opponent, Thomas Hollingsworth, becomes a bodiless spirit.

Chapter 14:

Part 1:
It is Christmas on Samhain.

Part 2:

Brian, Liam, Kieran, and Selena celebrate Christmas in Sian Boru’s private rooms.

Chapter 15:

Part 1:
Caleb Keane arrives in Los Angeles.

Part 2:
There is an attack on Kieran by a tengu on Samhain. With Mallory’s help he defeats, but there is a traitor in their midst.

Chapter 16:

Part 1:
Private lessons between Kieran and Mallory begin.

Part 2:
Liam’s guilt over Thomas is great. Liam grounds him and now has his own personal spirit.

Chapter 17:

Part 1:
Brian CuCullen goes to Rome to meet with the Council of Guare which runs the Bene Lumen. Brian agrees and forms a fealty, a small group of Bene Lumen to assist him. His fealty includes Sian Boru.

Part 2:
Liam and Thomas along with Selena and Sian Boru’s other special students watch Kieran’s team play Ruadh.

Chapter 18:

Part 1:
Caleb tracks Anna, a vampire with infom to Napa, CA. The deranged Anna sets him on fire so she can escape. This leaves Caleb weakened and in need of finding a place to heal.

Part 2:
Caleb does find a way to tell Brian about who the mole on the council is.

Chapter 19:

Part 1:
Kieran has improved on the obstacle course. Nadia attempts to help him and they fight.

Part 2:
Caleb ends up in San Francisco. He seeks out the help of a nonaligned witches coven. Caleb protects, a witch, Gundrun, and her daughter. He battles the Ser’irm and finally defeats it. Gundrun decides to take care of him. She and her daughter pack him into a car and take him to a safe house.

Chapter 20:

Part 1:
After a class Brother Zheng warns Liam about the people who are after him. It seems that more than the Illuminatii want Liam.

Part 2:
Hidden in the Joshua Tree National Park Gundrun and Una take care of Caleb.

Chapter 21:

Part 1:
The day has come and Kieran is to finally run the obstacle course. His time turns out to be the second best time, his father still holds the record.

Part 2:
Brian and his fealty arrive at the safe house. Sian and Gundrun immediately bond. Gundrun agrees to use her crystal ball to help Brian.

Chapter 22:

Part 1:
The field trip turns out to be a hike in the hills overlooking Loch Ness. It appears that someone has told the Illuminatii about the field trip. Boris attempts to protect everyone by engaging the Nain, which eventually kills him. Kieran and Liam tell everyone to back off while they stand against the Nain.
Part 2:
Gundrun using her crystal ball sees that Kieran and Liam are in danger. Tapping into Gundrun’s and Una’s power, she teleports herself and Brian to the spot of the battle then collapses. Brian rushes into battle. With the help of Kieran they defeat the Nain.

Epilogue:

At Diaghilev’s memorial service it is announced that Brian CuCullen has been given the newly formed position of Tiarnan of Samhain. The second mole has not been discovered and Samhain and his sons are in danger. He will be there to protect them. With that the school year ends.
