My first book of 2012 did not disappoint. Although the murder mystery idea is not a new one by any means, Connelly was successful in leading me down several false paths and away from the true killer. In fact, there was a point in The Poet where I thought I outsmarted Jack, the main character, and believed I figured out who the killer was but I was pleasantly surprised at the end. The only thing that I didn't like was that the novel ended with parts missing, such as the "why" behind the true killers motives. I guess they were setting themselves up for a sequel but I'm not a big fan of unfinished stories.
