I now know why everyone says The Poet is MC's best writing. This book was amazing from beginning to end!

This is the first of the Michael Connelly books I read, and while I didn't think I was going to enjoy the book, I really did. Out of all of his books I have read so far, I would say this one is quite different as it is written from an outsiders perspective, that of a relative of a victim as well as a newspaper reporter instead of a police officer. While the storylines are quite elaborate involving a serial killer, it is not so out there that it isn't believeable.

Michael Connelly is crime mystery at it's best. He just can't write a bad story.

Love this. A nice change up for Connelly who's stepped away from his Harry Bosch books. It works very well. One of my favorites.

This was my first Connelly book. It was a bit dark for me. I use to read this type of book more (ie Kellerman, Cornwell, etc.), but they just got to be too much. I still gave it 3 1/2 stars (not 4) because it kept me reading with good twists in it, and I liked his writing style; however, the motives and personality of this horrific serial killer just didn't seem right/justified to me. I see the author writes other characters, so I may try another book if it isn't so dark.
