I think this is the best Bosch novel. Although I knew the plot (i.e. saw the movie with Client Eastwood), the book was enjoyable and surprising nevertheless. Connelly never fails!

Although I liked it, this was probably my lease favorite Michael Connelly book. I liked the character of Terry McCaleb, but the story was a little slower paced than most of Connelly's other books.

Great but not his best. Interesting that they chose this one to make a movie about.

I'm hooked. Have just read Trunk Music and now this in quick succession.
A good read, and a well written story.
I can see from the acknowledgments at the back of the book that Connelly has a lot of contacts who are ex FBI and ex LAPD.
I also noted the name of Clint Eastwood as someone who proof reads his work.
I assume it is the famous version of the name.
I can't wait to read other Connelly books, but the only one left on my shelf is "The Closers".
I want to read his books in order, so will have to shop around.
I would recommend this to anybody

If I remember correctly this was the first Michael Connelly book I ever read and I still clearly remember the opening chapter (unusual for me since I churn through books at a voracious pace). The plot of this book was so well written and I liked the way that it doesn't always have a happy ending. Connelly is a great writer and his time as a crime journalist is evident in his attention to detail and the realism he brings to his stories.

This was an audiobook from the library we listened to while driving to Reno to catch a plane.

Average thriller about retired FBI profiler Terry McCaleb with a new heart who is put on the track of his donor's killer by her sister who he, of course, falls in love with in the process. Problem is he finds out that the only reason his donor was killed was to save his life - the sick logic of one of his past cases who got away known as "The Code Killer". My problem with all these serial killer books is that they make the killers sooooo smart. Are these mass murderers really that intelligent or is it just that they don't get caught because the average person is so busy minding their own business that murders can take place right in front of them and they DON'T See IT? Privacy doesn't necessariy mean safety.

When I first picked this book up all I did was read the prologue and I was hooked. One of Connelly's best. I am tempted to mention the plot and the bases of the story, but to do so I believe it would take away from the story. This book is best read not knowing anything like it ws for me.
When I first heard that they were making a movie adaptation and that Clint Eastwood was going to be involved I was glad. Clint usually does a great job, although with this one I am sad to say that now I had wished the movie was never made and that I never saw it.
If you have not seen the movie, GREAT, read the book first. If you have en the movie, wipe it from your mind, or as much of it as possible, and read the book Yu will not be sorry.
