Beautiful love story full of surprises. Funny and sad at the same time.

Yes | No“Bestselling romance writer Hayden Lane has never been so obsessed with one of her fictional heroes before so entranced that she barely notices when her fiancé breaks their engagement. Desperate to discover more about him, she visits a psychic who tells har that in a past life, Hayden was Lady de Grey, a promiscuous woman of Edwardian England whose ghost is said to haunt her husband's home. Warned not to investigate further, Hayden is more intrigued than ever and can't resist being subject to a hypnotist's magic. But the trick goes wrong, and instead of merely remembering her past as Lady de Grey, Hayden is living it right down to her too-tight corset. Now, Hayden will discover quite a different story about a woman history considered a trollop, a spectacular, brooding man, and the rapturous love that would be hers if she dared open her heart to the most mysterious adventure of all....”

I want to see the main characters TOGETHER and to build a relationship. When she puts them together, the story is fascinating. When she goes off and shows them as children - living together like brother and sister - it fell a little flat. The story was good but it seemed out of place in a romance novel. It appears that J.D. was trying to show the strong bond between these two characters through time. And while it mostly worked, at times, you just wanted to the story to get on...get moving. When she meets Tavistock, I was engrossed. I loved that section of the book more than any other. It was passionate, frustrating, and filled with tension. But after all the twists and trials J.D. puts her main character through, as a reader, I want to her overcome those trials and then experience her joy when she does. J.D. spends 98% of the book bringing the reader through the past lives of Hayden's and her male soul mate's stormy, tumultuous often, and tragic relationship(s). Then, finally, at the very end, the reader is rewarded with about half a chapter of what promises to be the climax for her and the reader...but then J.D. shuts the curtain. The End. We meet Mr. Right and the book ends. ARGH! So, at best, I was intrigued with the book and the past life issues. At worst, I was frustrated and left wanting. ”
