It's loaded with good information, arguing that America, by the same standards it applies to other nations that have been labeled failed states, is itself a failed state. This book would make a good antidote...” see full review » see other reviews » |
Didn’t Like It“One of very few books I could not finish. Arrogant in the extreme. Chomsky's main references are earlier books he has written, which are cited as absolute truth. I probably agree with him on most things but I found his ego so massive and obtrusive that I could not find out.” see full review » see other reviews » |
“The book covers American involvement in the world and the effects that involvement is having in todays politics. The US suposition of supremacy in world affairs from excusing itself from the Non-Proliferation Treay, the Kyoto Accords, or the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice have created a world hostile to the US and it’s role therein according to Noam. He takes great care to show the issue as not just Bush II’s but a line unbroken from Reagen to Bush and therefore culible to both Democrats and Republicans. He also gives examples of the US subversion of democracy when it is not in our interests including at home in the US that has led to disenfranchisement by others countries as well as American’s with their own political system.”

It's also eye-opening in revealing that the majority of the US citizens would like to see a whole different agenda than the one being executed by the politicians.
Mr. Obama please read this book before going into office.”
“Chomsky speaks the truth. The U.S. is failing as a state.”

Big corporations are running both the media and the USA government, big or small, democrat or republican. The USA government has become a racket of the rich that transfers billions and billions of our tax money to the accounts of war industry and its sub contractors.
I also recommend Willam Blum's Rogue State for those Americans who do not confuse patriotism with jingoism and warmongering.”
