  • Mary Russell: Mary Russell is a recent graduate of Oxford (theology and maths). She was previously an apprentice to Sherlock Holmes and has partnered with him on several cases.
  • Sherlock Holmes: The famous detective, now semi-retired and studying beekeeping in Sussex.
  • Margery Childe: Charismatic leader of The Temple of God.
  • Veronica: Old chum of Mary Russell from Oxford. A volunteer at The Temple oif God.
  • Marie: Maid to the leder of the church. Very protectove of her charge.
  • Ronnie: Veronica, a friend of Mary's
  • Lestrade: This Inspector Lestrade is the son of the one in the Conan Doyle novels.
