I also enjoyed this book, especially since I was not expecting that much from it. But sometimes I wish she would have stepped away from the reading group and explored some of the other characters in the book. For example, when Harriet's son was in the hospital, I was really looking forward to how she would interact with her husband, but she glossed over the entire experience and just brought him home safely...

Also, I was pulled by her portrayal of a woman struggling with infertility in addition to a woman choosing abortion. While I agree that the woman (Nicole) who had the abortion will struggle the rest of her life with her decision, will a woman (Clare) who has struggled with infertility and a failed marriage really find contentment in an orphanage? I think the author dealt with these topics on a surface level and did not bring any new emotion or perspective to either case.

However, the total picture the book displayed was enjoyable. I would read another book by this author, and hopefully she will begin to explore these great experiences in further detail.
