“I just finished this book. I can't even think straight. I really liked this story, a lot, but I just can't handle that ending. I mean, I HAVE to read the second book... like, now.
“I actually liked this book, usually adult books are just about sex but this one wasn't. It had their pasts and the connection between them. It was really good. ”Kari wrote this review Wednesday, November 6, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“Of all the spots to stop in, this story ended too abrupt for me. Thankfully I have the second book to continue or I'd be slightly irked.
That shows how good the story is that I was so lost in it that I hated to see it end.
So many emotions ran through me as I read.
I loved the romance between Callie and Kayden. You quickly learn how made for each other they are. The sensitive parts of the story pull on your heart strings, as you feel so much empathy for them and what they live through.
A few times I laughed out loud though.
Near the end I found myself thinking what a great film it would make. I even pondered who could make up the cast. It became that real at some point.
A ton of fun to read, even for a sensitive story at times. Now onto the next book!”

“Me gusto el libro, muy buenas historias aunque son temas que se han tratado en otros libros me gusto la manera en que se desarrollan las historias de abusos de estos 2 protagonistas.”GEORGINA B wrote this review Monday, August 5, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“ I loved this book! It is one of the best books I have read so far in the new adult genre. I found it to have a depth to it that most romance novels just do not. It has sweet moments, but it also has some gritty qualities too.
Callie is our wounded heroine. She is far from perfect. She had to endure something so kid should, and then she dealt with it herself instead of telling her family. I love how strong Callie is. She is someone who has learn to go on, even though she had something done to her that would make many people crumble. She doesn't just melt and instantly fall for the hot hero, and I really liked that the most about her. She is a character that is very easy to connect to and enjoy reading her journey throughout the book.
Then there is Kayden. He is also damaged for a completely different reason. I also really enjoyed reading about his growth. He is a swoon worthy hero if I say so myself.
I love that both of our main characters are flawed and neither one of them have had the perfect life. So often you have your one character who has issues and then the other comes from the perfect life. With Callie and Kayden, they lean on each other and start to heal together from the deep wounds of their past.
This was such a great read and I can't wait to read the next in the series. (We are left with a cliff hangers that rips your heart out.) This book has topics that no one likes to discuss, but it really shows how events can effect how a person behaves. I would definitely recommend this book to others. With that, go read this one. It's not one you want to miss out on. ”
“ I enjoyed this one and devoured in less than 24 hours... I connected with Callie and Kayden, and their emotional turmoil was really well written and the emotions drew me into the story.
It is told in dual narrative and it is clear cut who is talking and what is going on. The voices are done well, and both have a story to tell.
Callie's friendship with Seth was another thing that I really liked about this story. He had a great personality and it felt like a bff or very good brother and sister relationship because he is protective, but he encourages her and understands her. So, here is where many will probably start to turn away, because he is gay. Yes, I know. Formulaic right? The two damaged people falling in love and helping each other heal, and oh by the way there is the gay best friend. I have read a lot from my commenters (yes I love you all) that they are tired of this type of story because it is predictable.
But it was exactly what I needed, and wanted in a story right now, and that is what it comes down to. Great characters, good writing, and emotional response.
There are a lot of secrets and a few twists that I didn't see coming. But it was good about giving details a little at a time to form the whole picture even though you get the general idea of what happened to Callie and Kayden right away. But there are intricacies that come out through the story, and they both grow page by page and that is great to watch.
But that ending, it is the mother of all cliff hangers, and made me mad. I can't wait for the next one!
Bottom Line: Emotional book where I connected with the main characters.”
