Rachel O'Malley is a trauma psychologist seeing to the needs of flood victims in Chicago. She is working alongside her brother, Jack, and Chicago Fire Captain, Cole Parker. Cole has been enamored with Rachel for quite awhile, but hasn't really acted on his feelings. Now that she is a new Christian, that is about to change. Yet he pursues her with maturity and tenderness because she is what he really wants. Lisa O'Malley is integral to the plot, investigating a shooting where much of the crime scene has been destroyed by the flood.

The plot thickens when several shootings occur at the local Middle and High Schools. The suspense builds as the investigations continue.

Dee Henderson develops a wonderfully suspenseful whodunit! The moments shared by Rachel and Cole are touching and well worth re-reading and smiling over. Once again, the other O'Malleys make their cameo appearances and Jennifer O'Malley's illness is still showcased. This is a "can't-put-it-down" book. There are also some very poignant moments regarding dealing with intense grief.

The other O'Malley novels are: The Negotiator, The Guardian, The Truth Seeker, The Protector, The Healer, The Rescuer. Each is a wonderful read!

I really like each of the O'Malley series books. These people that chose to be a family exemplify true love, concern and committment to each other. On top of that the books are well written, page turners. Worth reading.

In series five, the reader finds Rachel stepping to the forefront to help children who have been traumatized. She is going through her own trauma, and this is a hard one to read.
