Was going to review this play by play but instead:
This collection of plays contained "Iphigenia among the Taurians", "Bacchae", "Iphigenia at Aulis" and "Rhesus." After reading a collection of four other plays by Euripedes (which were EXCELLENT) I found this collection to be a thorough disappointment. The worst amongst the plays was "Iphinenia among the taurians" which was terrible, a one star play, where the drama was all wrong.

"Iphigenia at Aulis" was almost as bad and the other two plays were only moderate. Bacchae seemed to be out of place among all of the other plays, the others centring before, during and after the Trojan War (which seemed to help parts of my knowledge which are unknown by me, e.g. Iphigenia's story.) Rhesus, which was probably not written by euripedes, is the only play I have read set during the Trojan War which was also another positive comment. In all in all, bad set of plays.

A side note: the selection may not have been as sporadic as first thought - all of the plays seem to be showing the rites, practices and relationships between the Greek and "Barbarian" cultures.
