“Skin and Other Tales was quite different from anything I'd ever read before. An anthology of stories from Roald Dahl, an author best known for his children's stories, the book shows a dark side of Dahl that no 10 year old would ever think existed. From an old man who kills his business partner with a black mamba to a wife who kills her husband with a leg of lamb and then feeds the leg of lamb to the police who come to investigate, this book has it all. In the anthology, Dahl outdoes himself; not once while reading Matilda or The BFG would I ever have imagined that one of my favorite childhood authors could have such an evil persona. The way in which he writes is not so different from how he writes in other books; the style is recognizable, although, as mentioned previously, the subject definitely is not. I would recommend this book to anybody over 13 who has read at least one of Dahl's other works.
