I enjoyed reading this book.
My life is nothing like Dave Pelzer's. My mother is not abusive and my parents aren't alcoholics. Unlike Dave, I have never eaten out of garbage cans or stolen food in order to survive. Another thing that makes Dave and I different is that my mom has never made me drink dish soap, pulled my arm out of my socket, abused me violently, stabbed me in the chest, or made me swallow tablespoons of ammonia. I would never in my life want to be put in Dave Pelzer's childhood shoes. Dave had to ask permission for his mother to let him go to the restroom and I don't. I can go whenever I please. I thank God that I don't have a crazy mother like Dave Pelzer's.
Dear Dave Pelzer,
From reading your books I'm not a big fan of your mother's. How could you have been so strong enough to tolerate all of your mother's stupid crap? Why didn't your father get the nerve to step up and defend you, his son? If I was placed in your shoes I would have never made it out of that alcoholic and abusive house a live. I don't think that I would have ever forgiven my mother if she would have done all those things to me. You have lived a life that no child should and experienced things no person should ever experience. You, Dave Pelzer, are one of my heroes because you did the right thing on forgiving your mother even though it was probably hard for you.I thank God that you're alive and now living with your beautiful family.
