a)"I'm free". - Dave Pelzer was beaten by his mother brutally when he was young and this book is a review of his childhood. This quote was said by Dave when he was saved by the police and freed (meaning no more beating).

b)I was satisfied with the scene where Dave was rescued by the police. His mother beated him all the time and he wasn't living as a human but an 'it'. His life was miserable. No proper clothing, no food, no proper mother, no friends, no anything. I was glad to have...

    i think this is one of the books that really touched me emotionally. it's not brilliantly written, but it was still so provoking. i think it was the fact that the emotions behind the words were so raw. it kind of really makes you think about how a human being could be so resilient.
