I learned a lot from this book, about child abuse and also about the human spirit and what it is capable of. This is a captivating account of a man's story of surviving child abuse. Sure, it's super depressing, but I think everyone that reads it can get something great out of it like I did:) highly recommended, and I can't wait to read the rest in the trilogy!!”

David Pelzer was born with the perfect family, but soon the perfect family becomes the worst family. “A Child Called It”, is a great biography written by the one who has witnessed the worst. David Pelzer penned his life story very descriptively in this very disturbing, but interesting biography.
To begin, “A Child Called It” took place in Daly City, California in the 1960’s. David’s life seems to be the best life ever, but he soon finds out that this was a fantasy. Throughout the years, his life started to get worse and worse by the minute. It started off by David getting verbally abused, to no food, to being physically abused and finally near death experiences. Pelzer still had not given up hope; furthermore, he kept trying to overcome those problems by showing courage. Pelzer is now a very famous author, spokesperson and public speaker. Additionally, the plot and the conflict of “A Child Called It”, is very brutal but intense because of the abuse and neglect that Pelzer seems to be getting used to. Pelzer is a very determined and courageous character in the biography because he had to face many problems such as being starved, beaten and burnt, but he was still determined that he would be able get free from this ‘madhouse’. Pursuing this further, he is also a very loving character because all he wanted was to be loved but instead, he received hatred. David Pelzer has accomplished numerous and has been recognized around the world.” Overall, this biography is well written because it varies in sentence structure, effective use of language and literary devices.
Ultimately, “A Child Called It” is a very moving read and is composed of many unique genres that include action, violence and adventure. David Pelzer has constructed an outstanding novel that will melt even the coldest of hearts. “A Child Called It” would be recommended for ages 13 and up because in some parts of this biography, there are many inappropriate words that are not a good influence on children. Additionally, teenagers and adults would very much enjoy reading this biography due to the fact there is a crucial secret that is hidden within the plot; once the reader finds it out, the whole story would make perfect sense and only they would be able to find it out. In a final analysis, David Pelzer wanted to portray to everyone that there will always a light at the end of the tunnel, and that perseverance is always a critical trait that is to be utilized when in situations, such as the one David Pelzer had experienced.”
“So sad. ”

He will never forget being beaten and harmed while growing up and not having much of a childhood. He had to do dishes for little food and was treated like a slave. His dream: To have a son a treat him good and love him, the two things he never received.”

This is a story about child ABUSE. There is a lot of ABUSE in it. It's disturbing and terribly sad-and there are more books in the series. But definitely a powerful read if you can make it through it.”
