Too little biblical authority; way too much reliance on statistical data and personal anecdote. Read "Raising a Modern Day Knight" by Robert Lewis instead.

Dr. Dobson does a great job of explaining how boys are wired, and how to properly communicate with them. You learn how difficult it is to raise a boy in today's society, and that what you do now as their mother and father effects the future man, husband, and father he is to become.

I have to say that I'm not really the biggest Dobson fan, but he did have some good things to say.

A must read for families with boys. Dr. Dobson brings practical thoughtful insights to the life of boys while giving hilarious antidotes from his own experience. You will not be sorry you read this book!

There were some good advice and interesting points of view, though I don't agree with everything Dobson talks about and believes in. This is a very "old school" mentality and he enforces his belief of following/reading scripture... it's good to read things we are not completely in agreement with, it forces us to consider other's points of view. I would still recommend this book though it's not my favorite.

This book has good insight for someone who has never raised a son before - or like me, who adopted a son at pre-school age. Parts of it got a bit long and lecture-ish and parts of it may be a little too "right-wing" for some readers. Bottom line I got out of this - love them and then love them some more, they are our future men.
