“My Side of the Mountain was paramount in my development as a reader. When I read this book in sixth grade it sealed my love for the wilderness and the challenges it brings. I believe it was a dramatic influence on my world perspective. I often imagined myself alone in the wilderness relying only on myself and nature. This book helps us reexamine what necessity and comfort actually are: a hollowed out tree, warm fire,some acorn pancakes, and a loyal companion. ”
