“This is such a neat book regarding a boy living on his own out in the woods. This is such a neat book; not anything like books that kids would've read before! A great story for kids who are growing up in a technological world. :) ”

He is living every boy's dream, but has to battle the elements and learn how to live off the land without the aid of man made tools.
This book was fun to read because it helped the reader imagine that they were living off the land. There were little helpful notes along the way too on how to make tools and different food.
This would be a good book for a student who loves the outdoors and camping
This book was similar to The Sing of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare because they are both alone in the woods living off the land.
" I knew that the land was just the place for a Gribley(9)."”
“A wonderful book about a boy who gets tired of living in the city and starts living up on a mountain with a falcon named "frightful" for company. The first book in the trilogy of the mountain books for Jean Craighead George.”

It is about a boy named Sam who runs from his crowded New York City apartment to the Catskill mountains. It is all about him surviving through the winter, spring, summer, and fall. He makes many animal friends such as a hawk, a Baron Weasel, and a Raccoon. He makes an interesting home in one of the huge trees. This book is similar to the book Hatchet by Gary Paulson. Even though they are in the wilderness for 2 totally different reasons the ways they make their shelters and find their food are very similar. If you like that book you will probably like this one. Overall it is a very good book. ”
