This really put me off. This guy is apparently using his autobiography as his PhD thesis. How does gazing into his own past help prepare him to help others as a psychologist?

This book was...... almost everything i love in a book, Cameron West manages to tell his story in a way that many authors attempt and few achieve. it drew me in, captured me, and didn't let go until it had made me cry from shared emotion and pain. It is an amazing story about not only the suffering and pain he has experienced at the hands of his abusers, but then continues to suffer from the very thing that protected him from that pain for so very very long. The human mind has an unlimited capacity and while heart wrenchingly painful this is an excellent example of that.

Written in a disctinctly encompassing and riveting way that draws you into the mind of the author and his struggles. Makes you feel like there is more than one of you.

Amazing book, great if you are interested at all in psychology. It was very inriguing and overall, a very emotional book. I don't reccommend reading it if you are young though, because of the large element of sexual abuse contained in it.

It had some interesting moments, but I lost interest so many times in this book that it just made it hard to finish.

If you ever want to be fascinated by how powerful our minds are, read this book. I read this years ago and it's still my reference point for the genius capacity of our brains, especially as a protection mechanism.

A painful memoir of a man , age 30, who was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder (DID). He began experiencing symptoms of the disorder : inner voices, periods of blackout, memory loss and a feeling that something was not right. Eventually, twenty four different/separate personalities of both sexes and various ages are identified. The personalities reveal the story of his horrific childhood and abuse by his family.
