The Trumpet of the Swan is about a little
cygnet(orbaby swan), named Louis, that was born in Canada with a speach defect. In Canada, he met a young boy named Sam Beaver. He somehow understood Louis and let Louis go to school with him. He learned to read and write so he could communicate. When he had grown into a young cob, he had fallen in love with a girl swan, named Serena. She did not love him back because he could not tell her in words how pretty she was. At this, his Fatherwent to Billings and stole a trumpet from their music store. Louis traveled to Montana for a job of playing bugle calls on his trumpet at Sam's summer camp. He made 100 dollars for one week of bugling for mornings, lunchtime, and he played taps for night. When Louis traveled to Boston, he swam in front of the Swan Boats playing his trumpet for the passengers. He also gained a total amount of 100 dollars from the Swan Boat director. His last stop was in Philadelphia. He got a job at a nightclub and played songs there for the peolpe, too. He recieved500 dollars every Saturday for ten weeks straight. He had been sleeping in the lake in front of the zoo. Upon this lake came a dark and stormy night, the wind was blowing hard. This wind blew in Serena, whomwas flying in the airat that time, causing her to crash into the zoo's lake. The next morning, Louis awoke her with a song with a beautiful melody that he wrote for her. She was charmed by his music and finally fell in love with him, too. The couple had love for each other at last. They flew back to Canada together to see Louis'sand Serena's families. Louis gave his father all of his inherited money and his dad flew it back to Billings. When the man from the store recievedthe gift he was overjoyed. In the end, Serena and Louis had several little cygnets together in the Springtime. They hatched them at the same lake in which they were both hatched and raised.
