“Spirit, by Brigid Kemmerer, the third book in the highly popular Elemental series is as full of action as previous books with a HUGE emotional hook that will draw the reader into its complex vortex, not letting you go until the very last word! Hunter Garrity is the new kid in town who has been drawn into the Merricks' world as they fight to stay one step ahead of the guides sent to kill them for being pure elementals. Life for Hunter has been hard, everywhere he turns he sees one more person turning their back on him. Raised and trained by his father, a strong guide on the trail of the Merricks, he intends to finish the job his late father started, but he finds he cannot do it, he can’t pull the trigger. As more Guides are showing up to finish the Merricks off, Hunter must decide what side of the battle he stands on and worse- how to reign in his out of control abilities. Through the chaos that has become Hunter’s life, he finds one anchor point, Kate, a new girl in town who mysteriously is just who and what he needs. But even Kate has an agenda relating to her own tortured past. When the chaos that is Hunter’s life reaches epic proportions, it is a Merrick who comes to his rescue and takes him in, giving him shelter, a job and most of all a chance to gain back some self-respect and do the right thing. But will they continue to stand by him? Where does Kate really fit in? Doesn’t Hunter deserve better than what he has gotten?
Brigid Kemmerer has done it again! Her characters come to life through her writing with distinct personalities, attitudes and great dialogue interaction! The reader is treated to the entire Merrick family, warts and all, and it’s wonderfully enchanting to watch! She is able to bring the reader to tears and make them laugh out loud all while keeping up the pace and filling in every important detail at just the right time and that is a gift! I completely understand how this series has gained so many devout followers!
