• After the tragic death of her mother Vala’s dreams are haunted by her scream. Sheltered from the outside world with no chance of ever stepping a foot past the castle walls princess Valas life is more like an imprisonment. She’s forced through lessons daily, her father doesn’t allow her past the walls, and the only friends she has is her handmaiden Lily and the handsome Fane whose been gone without a word for years. Oh and today happens to be the day of her eighteenth year celebration. With the help of her handmaiden and dearest friend Lily she finds herself dressed and thrown into an array of lights and music. Her old friend Fane Raynsword reappears after years away and Vala can tell he's hiding something. That is until her eyes meet with an emerald eyed stranger. Drawn to him in a strange way, he disappears before Vala has a chance to speak with him.him.

  An arrow shot from the dark at the end of her celebration sends Valas’ life into a whirlwind. Stolen away by Rulf, a man who says he was a friend to her mother, she learns of the magical race of Valarians that used to protect the lands. Oh and she happens to be one, a very important one- that Merek wants. Merek a Valarian who betrayed everyone two hundred years ago is back and threatening the kingdoms. And Vala is the only one that can stop him.

  Thrown into a life full of deceit, lies, trickery, secrets, a love triangle and danger lots and lots of danger, Vala must learn who to trust and how to use her gifts all while dodging Mereks soldiers and other evil creatures, attempting to control the power raging through her veins, get to the phoenix alive, and figure out why she is drawn to the strange boy with emerald eyes that’s joined their party.
