Howard Pyle wrote this story with young boys in mind. It has high adventure and follows the life of the protagonist from age 8 and up. Myles is learning to become a knight, so there will be violence and fighting scenes. If you get editions with Pyle's own illustrations, boys will be especially delighted. There are a few female characters and a bit of romance (tastefully done as Myles meets and decides he wants to marry the daughter of his benefactor who has seen to his training to become a knight).
