Quotes edit see section history

  • “My ghosts aren’t floating see-through apparitions. They aren’t drifting clouds of mist, or glowing balls of light. My ghosts are the soundless walking zombies of the dearly departed. They are the rotting corpses of the dead. They are often juicy, with pieces dripping, and falling apart at the seams. When I’m bored, I imagine them dancing, as the tempo increases and their movements become more enthusiastic, their bodies slowly fall to pieces. They stumble and try to pick up their missing limbs, and the music keeps playing. They continue their ghoulish dance, hopping and tripping in perfect flow to the music.Ashley Jeffery. The Wild Hunt (Kindle Locations 110-114).”
    Lorelei Preston (aka Lo)
  • “I let myself fall into the hollow promise, into the lie that swam around me, circling like a hungry shark. What was the worst that could happen? I’d been living in a world full of walking nightmares for years. Didn’t I deserve this bright flawless dream, this perfect neon colored utopia?Ashley Jeffery. The Wild Hunt (Kindle Locations 419-421).”
    Lorelei Preston (aka Lo)
  • “The dead never leave us. I didn’t have to see rotting zombies to remind me of that. Every day I remembered them and mourned. An ache inside that was forever constant. All I had left of them were memories. I cherished everyone like they were diamonds. I didn’t want to forget them. I didn’t want to let go.Ashley Jeffery. The Wild Hunt (Kindle Locations 1546-1548).”
    Lorelei Preston (aka Lo)
  • “I felt like I was standing in front of him naked, his hands touching the scars that no one wanted to see. I wore tank tops sometimes just to get a reaction. People would look, but not ever see. They were afraid of the scars that someone gets from almost dying. No one wants to be that near death, and by looking at me, they felt a little too close to the edge.Ashley Jeffery. The Wild Hunt (Kindle Locations 1838-1840).”
    Lorelei Preston (aka Lo)
  • “He rubbed my shoulder and leaned down to rest his forehead against mine. Every part of my body screamed to reach out for him, but the rational part of me, was terrified. I breathed in his musky intoxicating scent and kept my eyes closed. His breath was near my face and it tickled my bottom lip. “Lo.” My name came out in a plea, but I kept still unable to fight the fear that outweighed my attraction. “I don’t know what you want Duncan, I’m no good with boys who have names.” I said.Ashley Jeffery. The Wild Hunt (Kindle Locations 2137-2141).”
Duncan Benandanti, Lorelei Preston (aka Lo)
  • “He’s marked you, and more will come, before we sought you out because you were like fire on a cold night. We feel closer to being human; we remember what it was like to feel.”Ashley Jeffery. The Wild Hunt (Kindle Locations 2269-2270).”
    Jillie the child ghost
  • ““It seems like every time I turn on the TV it’s just more death.Ashley Jeffery. The Wild Hunt (Kindle Location 2431).”
    Lyle Schroeder
  • “He reached out a hand and brushed my face. “You’re beautiful. I hate you a little right now.” “I know.”Ashley Jeffery. The Wild Hunt (Kindle Locations 2558-2560).”
    Duncan Benandanti
  • ““And whose fault is that Lo, who keeps herself so cut off from other people she feels nothing. Who drowns her sorrows and pain in alcohol and nameless bastards so she continues to feel nothing? I let you know exactly how I feel about you, I want everything Lo, and I want you. I want it all.” He walked towards me and took my shoulders roughly in his hands. “This is what I want.” Before I could pull away, he brought his mouth harshly down on mine. My body exploded in a million different sensations. Hot waves of heat cascaded down my body from where his lips touched mine. A small ball of need started building in my stomach. He had his mouth pressed so hard to mine I thought my lips would bleed. My hands found their way under his shirt and onto his back. I dug my nails in pulling him tighter against me.”
