“Our church did this as an all-church study, written by members of the congregation, about the core beliefs of our church to go along with the sermon series. Small groups and individuals did the study as adding more depth to the Sunday sermons. It talks about these aspects of the church - inviting, authentic, generous, transforming, celebrating, and empowering. I had been afraid that the study would not have much depth, but it was there in some of the passages, quotes, and conversations. The week of celebrating the different aspects of our faith was good. Favorite quotes: "The church is to give blessing to the world. It's not the other way around." "Give me the grace to love and accept others today despite their imperfections." "Life is not about what you are not receiving. If you feel unsatisfied or lonely, try removing the perspective off of yourself and onto someone else. It saddens me to see people give their life for another and it not be appreciated because the focus is on themselves. Oh how this must sadden the heart of Jesus because He gave His life for all and it goes unappreciated daily." "Give to others freely expecting nothing in return." "He tells them to 'produce fruit in keeping with repentance.'" "The value of my time comes not from what I accomplish but from my obedience to Your promptings." "One of the most dangerous lies of the evil one is that our sins are personal, affecting and hurting only us - but that is never the case. Our faults wound the entire community of believers and this is precisely why we need to be honest with each other."”
