James does it again--he takes the reader deep into race relations in America and creates a podium all by himself for himself on philosophical views on civil rights, the nation of islam, etc. dispelling myths and rumors, and my absolutely favorite is his poetic phrase...God said 'no more water, the fire next time!" That is sooo powerful to me in many, many ways and I wonder what it means to other readers. I think about that all the time with the matter of race relations no farther along than yesteryears and then to imagine that there won't be a flood when God runs out of patience, He's gonna burn it up...wow, ...that's deep in a literal sense and a metaphorical sense.
