I did not like the book, for I have a differing opinion. Siddhartha is on a journey to enlightenment, and on this journey Siddhartha proposes many philosophies. I disagree with the philosophies presented, for I do not believe that we are all on a path. I know other people would love this book,...

Very interesting book with alot of aspects that makes you think about everything, makes you question different beliefs. Although sometimes it can be a bit "too much" and exaggerated, it is a "must read" book

I particularly like the way Siddhartha indirectly pursues his ultimate goal through the experimentation of love, yet he searches for his "nirvana" indirectly multiple times too. The novel is a journey between the multiple points Siddhartha passes through, yet in search of what? While addressing the theme of education and ultimate enlightenment, Herman Hesse touches on the unexpectedness of life and how they connect; wisdom must be searched for in all perspectives. Where we get our wisdom from is what determines what wisdom that was being pursued all along.

This novel, written by Hermann Hesse, is the story of a young man, Siddhartha's life. As the novel progresses, the readers are able to share the characters hardships, set backs, and achievements scattered throughout every page of this enticing book. The main theme of this novel is discipline, and religion, which is what Siddhartha's quest is to seek. "I can think, I can fast, I can wait." this quote shows Siddhartha's very limited, yet very powerful gifts he possesses. I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys adventure, struggle, and/or interests in different religions.

In the tale of Siddhartha, A young man wonders out in the world to find his true calling. Without the intention of having friends or a family Siddhartha goes from being a Brahmin's son, an aesthetic in the woods, a merchant/gambler, and finally a wise ferryman. Although his resolve is pure and true he gives up nothing during his quest. Siddhartha goes throughout his Journey without ever giving anything up and only goes for what he wants without thinking of the consequences. Without friends and family it is impossible to enjoy life, and that is exactly the kind of life that Siddhartha had.

Think I originally read this in college back in the early 1970s.

The main character, SIddhartha, spends his life following several paths in an attempt to find enlightment, or Nirvana. While he has seen other individuals find Nirvana through other methods, he finds these methods do not work for him and sets off on his own to attempt to acquire enlightment.
Some may find Siddhartha's journies insightful but his journies do not interest me as much, which is why the book has recieved a low rating from me.

Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse is an incredibly deep and well written novel. This book displayed strong principles and morals that influenced me and changed the way I think. I believe it is a must read and I highly recommend it.
