This is an amazing, down to earth book with practical advice on changing our thoughts - thus changing our moods and our lives! Relevant in 1981 and still relevant today.

Excellent for all therapists. gives lots of suggestions for client assignements and exercises, teaches good self-evaluation and problem solving. Special for therapists: How to deal with difficult clients
This not only covers the subject but gives amples of role-play suggestions so any therapist can practice the skills needed.
An excellent starter or add on for those in training for RT/CT as it explains many details both in theory and practice and the reader learns to understand the background of Dr. Wiliam Glasser's RT/CT-work.

I read this book last year and I really enjoyed the simplicity.

His approach is somewhat mathematical with all the charts and stuff, but I like his basic premise ... that we can change the way we think.

All CBT practitioners should have this book on their shelf. This is the #1 book on depression. David Burns is the teacher to many psychotherapists and has won awards, for his research on brain chemistry and Outstanding Contributions Award from the National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists. Look out for his latest book, When Panic Attacks released on June 12, 2007.

I gave the handbook a better rating simply because it actually had some helpful things in it. Perhaps, the handbook should have been written first. When I finished the main book, I wasn't feeling too good. In fact, I felt ripped off.
