"Kinetic" focuses around five youths that are born with amazing kinetic abilities due to an intergalactic war that is being waged light years away. The story mainly follows Alexander Carter, an adolescent from Houston, Texas. Alex is just an average teenager trying to make it through high school when life takes a turn for the fantastic and the bizarre. One night, he finds an alien named Shyra in his bedroom. She tells him that Earth is threatened by the Zenakuu, a planet originally known for traveling to other planets to mine resources.

Unfortunately the Zenakuu traveled to an uncharted planet and began to drill. They unknowingly unearth a visceral species of insect-like parasites that can consume whole civilizations in mere days.

In order to save the galaxy from this threat the captain of the ship initiated the self destruct which would systematically blow up the entire planet. He succeeds in doing so, but chunks of the planet are sent hurling back towards their home world. Once there, the monstrous insects go to work eating everyone and everything in sight.

The planet sends out a distress call to their sister planet Kalryn, but after weighing out the danger, they decide not to help. Years after Zenakuu was presumed dead from receiving no aid, they attack and invade their sister planet Kalryn.

By the skin of their teeth the Kalrynians are able to fend them off, but the Zenakuu swear they will have their revenge, each time invading other planets, and bringing their newly enslaved races to join the fray. Finally, Kalryn had enough, and the council decides to recruit other worlds to help fight as well. They send a guide to Earth to unlock and train teenagers to use kinetic energy such as Pyro, Electro, Aero, Hydro, and Geo kinesis.

Now Zenakuu has their sights set on Earth, Shyra tells Alex that she has come to train gifted individuals, known as Kinetics also known as ESPers (people with extrasensory perception), to guard the Earth from the Zenakuu threat. He and a handful of teens are the planet's last hope of survival. She takes Alex to her ship, where he trains to be one of the few elite superheroes with the power to fight the aliens who have come to Earth fully intending to win a brutal intergalactic war.

The story is about the ongoing war between the two planets and the teenagers who have been torn away from their families to help fight a battle they originally had nothing to do with. The fate of humanity, and the galaxy, is now in Alex's hands, and he has no idea what he's gotten himself into.

Characters/People edit see section history

  • Alexander Carter: Alex was born and raised in Houston, Texas by his grandfather Henry because of the unnatural death of his parents. He is very rash, head strong, and impatient. Alex is always in a rush to help his friends and loved ones who he'd give up everything for. Alex didn't have what would be considered a "normal" upbringing, though his grandfather tried his best to provide for Alex, and give him all the love and attention he could handle, Henry was just too old to keep up. Alex desperately wishes for a normal life in a world that demands perfection. When he was visited by the alien named Shyra, he knew any hopes of having a normal were completely out the window. Alex has a high set idea of right and wrong along with his overly-exaggerated morals.
  • Shyra: Impetuous at times, Shyra often follows her heart. She strives to make her father proud, Shyra is very analytic and lives by her own set of rules. Shyra is a native born Kalrynian, and the first and only daughter of the Head Savant Rayvaar. She lost her mother to sickness when she was young, and her fiancée to war during the first Zenakuu invasion. Since then she has left to train the kinetic sensitive individuals on planet Earth to prepare them for war.
  • Dimitri Williams: Dimitri is an African-American male who grew up in the mean streets of Brooklyn, NY. In his early adolescence Dimitri joined one of the toughest neighborhood gangs in the city for acceptance and protection. When a drive-by shooting from a rival gang killed his older sister, he blamed himself for getting her involved. Dimitri vowed to leave that lifestyle and do everything he could to support his remaining younger sister and mother. All he wants now is a better life for his family and he will do whatever it takes to get it for them, even if that means doing some immoral things. Always the loner, Dimitri tries his best to look after his loved ones, but still must learn that he can rely on others.
  • Christian Mercado: Christian grew up in a very tight knit Hispanic family, he was kept from the rest of the world because his mother wanted to keep him safe. For this reason he is very timid and never took the time to make any friends. He spends a lot of his time reading comic books, being on the computer, and avoiding social situations. Being a social "untouchable" has caused to not much luck with the ladies. Despite all this he really wants to be accepted by his peers, and hopefully someday get a girlfriend. However, this all seems unlikely because of his aloofness and solidarity. Nonetheless Christian is still a very kind person who wants to do good in the world, and be there for his large family.
  • Cassandra Daye: Not all products of a broken family turn out bad, and Cassie Daye is a perfect example. Because she came from a broken family, Cassie spends most of her time in the books escaping her harsh reality and improving her mind in the process. She has only a few friends, but the ones she does have she could never replace. Always the A+ student Cassie excels very quickly but has always had a sense of longing that she could never fulfill. Cassie is shockingly good at problem solving and coming up with amazing strategies; this talent has served her continuously throughout life, especially when figuring out how to raise her younger sister.
  • Tori Hannon: Born and raised in the glamorous parts of Los Angeles, California, Tori always had everything money could buy, except for the one thing it couldn't–love. Never really getting the attention from her parents that she wanted Tori always found herself getting in trouble in hopes they would notice her. Tori can sometimes act like a spoiled brat, and will go to great lengths to be acknowledged. She has even gone to the extreme of causing serious property damage to her parents companies. Now Tori struggles to get over her deep seeded resentment toward her parents, and has since found out showing off seems to be an enjoyable outlet for her.
  • Lucas Wright: Because of the mysterious and dark nature of his parents deaths Lucas grew up alone without any family. He bounced around from orphanage to orphanage for his entire adolescence. Once he became of legal age and had to leave the orphanage. With surprisingly high academic scores he received a scholarship for college, but not even that was enough to cover all of his student bills. Having to drop out, and becoming homeless he used his genius I.Q. for small time crime to get what he wanted, and to survive. He later ran into Sora Morakami in his later years, and she quickly grew found of him. Lucas convinced her to help him with his law-breaking lifestyle and the two became petty criminals notoriously known in the Washington D.C. area.
  • Sora Morikami: Sora was born in Japan, but her parents moved to America for a better life when she was a newborn. As a child, she was very shy in social situations and prone to daydream herself into her own worlds. Other kids often teased Sora for being a foreigner, but she never let them get her down. Sora would spend her days with her head in the clouds, escaping the world. She continued to be optimistic and naive until college. Unfortunately she is easily taken as gullible. After she met Lucas she immediately fell in love, and has been following his lead ever since, even if she doesn't agree with what he does. She tries her best to change him, but fears that his heart is too far-gone.

  • ““Well how the hell could I?” Tori shouted. “You shut everyone out and exclude yourself from everything. You walk around all tough, but it’s not me who thinks they’re better than everyone else; it’s you.” “Tori,” Dimitri said flatly. “Yes?”“Close the door on your way out.” She glared at him with enraged eyes. “Fine!"”

  • ““Maybe, but we’re fighting for peace,” Chris said.“How do you fight for peace? That’s an oxymoron,” Cassie retorted.“Your face is an oxymoron,” Christian murmured underneath his breath. Alex tried his best not to crack a smile.”

Setting & Locations edit see section history

Mount Elbert, Calorado
  • Planet Kalryn: The planet Kalryn has advanced technology that allows each Kalrynian to control various means of living by having technology tailored to their specific brain wave. Kalrynians are a bipedal species, but even more distinct are their different shades of orange, amphibious skin. They wear armor that is comprised of white, blue, and sterling silver colors. They have thin black tendrils for hair, and unique Rorschach test -like tribal markings on their face and body that are always in perpetual motion. Kalrynians have the reverse eye coloring of humans, meaning white pupils and black corneas, but the exclusive distinction of sideways cat eyes similar to a frog. The average height of a Kalrynian ranged between 6’0 ft. to 6’5 once they reach adulthood. They mainly have tone, athletic bodies but like most species, it varies from person to person. They live to be about 236 Earth years old, but the best way to get a grasp on how old a Kalrynian is to look at how slow their facial tribal markings are moving. The older they are, the slower the markings shifted. All aspects of life were done through powers of the mind; living, fighting, loving, and transportation were all done through the superior mental abilities the Kalrynians have developed.
  • Planet Zenakuu: The Zenakuu are perhaps a little more primitive than their sister planet Kalryn. Zenakuu is a planet of miners and prospectors; because of this the people of Zenakuu have exhausted their natural resources on the planet. They are bipeds and their fur (commonly referred to as "pelage") texture was similar to ours on Earth, but the Zenakuu have a wide assortment of different skin colors and fur. The easiest way to understand this would be to explain the relationship of complementary colors which go; red and green, black and white, blue and orange, purple and yellow. The genetic coding of Zenakuu follow that principle, so depending on what their skin color was they would have the respective complementary color fur. The fur of a Zenakuu covers everything but the face, palms, pectoral muscles of a male, the breasts of a female, and abdomen area. Their armor is colored black, gold, and royal purple, and they have eyes similar to that of a goat. The range of height is much broader for Zenakuu; they cover 5’7 to 6’8 feet once they reach maturity, and could be very lean to morbidly obese. The species could live up to 189 Earth years, and as they reach the end of their life the fur on their bodies change to a shade of silver.

Glossary edit see section history

  • Kinetic: Pertaining to, or resulting from motion or movement.
  • Lygokinesis: This is the signature kinesis of planet Kalryn. It is a power that manipulates the electromagnetic radiation of photons in order to produce light. With this power they can craft tools, objects, weapons such as swords and axes for offense or shields and armor for defense, all out of ambient energy. Often appearing as brightly colored light, but sometimes invisible. The focus of the power is to produce a psionic energy that is completely in the user's control. A lygokinetic is only limited by what their mind can create.
  • Telekinesis: The ability to control/ move objects at a distance by mental power or other non-physical means. This ability is by far the most common in the "Kinetic" universe.
  • Telepathy: The power to read the thoughts of, and/or to mentally communicate with others. Telepathy is one of the basis of most telepathic and mind-based powers.
  • Hemokinesis: The control and movement of blood through means of the mind.
  • Karyokinesis: Karyokinesis is the signature kinesis for planet Zenakuu, in which they can rapidly manipulate the cells in one’s body. Exemplary talent in this field allow the Zenakuu to accelerate healing, maximize their physical strength, grant accelerated speed, incredible agility. Some can even repair damaged organs or body parts almost instantaneously, but the true legends of Karyokinesis reached such heights that they have been known to even grow back severed ligaments. With this power they can control the division of a cell nucleus during mitosis. The ability is loosely defined as the power to control one's body on a cellular level.
  • Geokinesis: The power to manipulate all natural minerals found on Earth with the mind.
  • Necrokinesis: An extremely dangerous and powerful bloodline ability that can control the dead and kill the living with a touch. This specific power has so far only been seen in Emperor Zelix of the royal family. With this, he has the power to sap the life force out of any opponent.
  • Vitakinesis: The purported biokinetic ability to mentally heal or rejuvenate damaged or aged bodily tissue on a cellular level. It is rumored that the Myriad possess this ability.
  • Electrokinesis: The ability to control and create electrical fields. A kinetic with this ability has the power to conjure & manipulate high amounts electricity with your mind and/or body alone. Users are able to alter the movement of electrons, allowing them almost any electricity based power. Simple powers would include the ability to generate electricity, shoot lightning, or overload a circuit.
  • Geokineis: The ability to manipulate the movement of minerals in the earth using kinetic power. Users can move any of the elements known as "Earthen" including most natural minerals. This ability is great for defense because its obvious abundance of material and strength. Experienced users can create weapons and armor out of solid stone or other natural elements
  • Pyrokinesis: The ability to create and control fire. Some powerful kinetics may have the ability to direct fire itself in a telekinetic manner, or can generate fire streams by releasing an intense blast of heat, which ignites the air in front of it. Users are often able to prevent fire, but this is not always the case
  • Hydrokinesis: The ability to create and control water. Some users may only be able to control H2O or pure water. Almost all forms of water manipulation involve moving and shaping a body of water to the user's desire. By simply levitating a large mass of water, they can move water anywhere they wish. These large bodies can also be used as weapons, either by shaping them into large whips, swung repeatedly at a target as a snake-like body, formed momentarily into a razor-sharp edge that can cut through even metal, or simply dropped onto an opponent to smother them or put out a fire
  • Aerokinesis: The ability to control the movement of air. The user psychically directs air molecules. Can compose bursts of winds, spawn tornadoes, and even siphon the air out of other’s lungs. Can generate breezes, squalls, gusts, whirlwinds, zephyrs, gales, tempests, and hurricanes
  • Magnokinesis: The ability to control magnetic field, metal, and magnets. he ability to control metal and create magnetic fields. Users can levitate, attract, bend, and warp ferrous objects, generating a revolving vortex. Many fans think this power is called "Metal Manipulation," but this is incorrect. This power is the ability to control magnetism, but with this capability, a Magnetism manipulator can control most metals. In theory, a powerful enough magnokinetic could disrupt the geomagnetic field that surrounded a planet and tamper with the magnetosphere, allowing planets to be harmed by solar winds and cosmic rays that travel through space. Also using the natural geomagnetic field that surrounds planets, a powerful enough magnokinetic could condense the field and crush the entire planet to an infinitesimally small singularity point.
  • Gravitokinesis: The ability to control and create gravitational fields. The user can control gravitational fields. Can bend gravity to make environment very “heavy” or “light”, cause objects to “fall” towards another object instead of the earth (“nexus inducing”). Can flatten objects and generate miniature black holes to compress objects into oblivion. Often users of this ability also possess some form of Darkness-related power, as they can absorb light like a black hole, thus making their gravitational distortions appear black
