I'll be honest. I had never ever considered reading a "romantic novel". I was always looking for a bit of action or mystery. But then I fell for a beautiful girl who loved romantic books. I thought that it would impress her if I read one and that I could maybe understand a bit more about her. I don't know why I picked A Walk to Remember but it may have just been because of the cover - or it could just have easily have been that it was 1p on Amazon plus the postage. It is easy to read and light hearted throughout. At the beginning of the book the character tells you that "First you will smile, and then you will cry - you have been warned." I am six feet two and used to play rugby. I smiled when I read that but the warning is real. It did bring a tear to my eyes - though I must quickly add that I did not cry. In picking up the book I did wonder how quickly I would get bored. Little did I know that I would not want to put the book down. It is heart warming and full of humour. I don't want to spoil the plot by giving anything away. I would recommend this book to everyone. I found it to be one of the best stories that I have read and thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I have only read one other romantic novel since then but that was with my wife (did I forget to mention that I did get the girl and we got married?) and was not on a par with this story. I am hesitant to actually call this a romantic novel as that may put a lot of readers off (the guys that is) but it is as the synopsis describes "the perfect innocence of a first love", which I think most of us can relate to.
