Gonzalez shows how children and adults might be treated with equal respect and unconditional love. Full of anecdotes, his humorous style was sometimes a bit sarcastic, but it did make it easier to read. In the first half he supports breastfeeding, co-sleeping and inclusion of children in the family tribe as part of the natural flow of how things have worked for thousands of years. In the second half he critiques several other authors and texts from the 1700s to the present that offer advice that ranges from poor to abusive, and suggests that parents have have the ability and knowledge to care for their children with love and respect.
