The Man Who Was Thursday is a very witty espionage tale that veers into C.S. Lewis and Charles Williams territory towards the end. Quite enjoyable.

I loved this book all the way up until the end, when it sort of petered out on me. A surprisingly limp effort by this great writer.

Check it out. You could write some serious papers about this book. I enjoyed it.

I like Chesterton, generally, but I wasn't sure what to make of this one. Definitely interesting and worth reading. There were some parts that were totally predictable, and others that weren't. There were also some parts that made me wonder what kind of drugs he was on.

Started as a clever and amusing satire and finished as a profound glimpse of ultimate realities. The firmly early twentieth century setting doesn't date it, but just adds to its charm. Another great Chesterton. (One of these years, maybe I'll read everything the man ever wrote.)

I actually listened to this on audiobook, and found it very interesting. It took me half the book to realize that it is really an allegory. Some of it was pretty obscure to me, but I recommend the book as very well written and thought provoking.

A journey into anarchy, madness, and eventually the joys of reality.

But never a serious journey. Sure it's got a lot about God and man and is really quite profound--but as with all Chesterton he never forgets the joys of laughter.

While I can't say that I even begin to understand this work, I love it! I love Chesterton's crazy writing style (which sometimes I think sacrifices substance for style, but whatever!), and I love how he turns everything on its head. His imagination was insanely enjoyable.
