I am not a huge fan of short story collections but I decided to pick up `GIRLS NIGHT IN' because some of the stories were penned by some of my favorite authors in the chick-lit genre and some by authors that I have never read but wanted to. Unfortunately, I cannot say that I was impressed by this collection, out of the twenty-one stories I can honestly only say that I liked seven, the rest were either mediocre, left something to be desired, or were just bad. However, on a positive note, out of the seven stories that I did like five of the authors were ones whose books I've never read. Therefore, I did accomplish the goal of discovering new authors to put into my rotation.

My seven favorites, in no particular order, were:

`THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE' by Marian Keys
    `ACTING STRANGELY' by Chris Manby
`KNOW IT ALL' by Sarah Mylnowski
    `CAT LADY' by Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez
`DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM' by Adele Lang
    `PARTY PLANNER' by Meg Cabbot
    `TRAVELING LIGHT' by Carole Matthews

So while I cannot say that I particularly enjoyed this book in its entirety, I do have the pleasure of walking away excited to read more from the seven aforementioned authors.

I picked up this anthology because it had several short stories from some authors I really like to read. Most of the stories were extremely good and I ended up discovering several new author's that I'm interested in as well. My favorite one in this collection had to of been the cat lady story.

A great compilation of chick-lit writers and some lovely stories. A good book for a night on the sofa with a pint of chocolate ice cream.

I discovered some of my current favorite authors in this short story collection. Most of the stories are very good, there were only a few I didn't care about.

Most of the stories in this are awful. Don't condescend to your characters. It doesn't work.

I remember I had this book when it first came out. Unfortunately a friend of mine borrowed it and passed it along to another friend and you know how it goes... And now I have to find another copy of it *sigh* . Wonderful read anytime, any day, over and over again !

This was a really great book! There were fun stories by some of my favorite female authors. There were also several enjoyable stories from authors I'd never heard of, but now know to look for in the future!
