I was impressed with the ideas in this book. However, they're all esoteric and a bit over my head. I was uncomfortable reading this -not "out of my comfort zone," which is a good thing when reading- but really made uncomfortable. Pinning the faults of the present on a single individual just does not jive with my philosophy.

An excellent work of time-travel science-fiction, and another one of Scott Card's fine works.

Of all the Orson Scott Card books, I think this is perhaps my favorite of all time. Even as much as I like Enders Game, I think this story is the most engaging he's ever done.

It's definitely very well written. It's filled with intelligent conversation between characters and has an overall interesting plot line if you like alternative history. It does get better once you're about 150 pages in.

Orson Scott Card is a justifiably well-known science fiction author, but I am always surprised at the number of people who are not familiar with Pastwatch, which I think is his finest work. Pastwatch has a complexity, a sense of moral conundrum, and a richness in historical detail that are all amazing. As a time travel and alternate history buff, I was also pleased with how those issues were treated. While Ender's Game was great, there is a maturity and sophistication in the writing here that must be experienced. Read it, then tell your friends.

The way Card weaves the past with the present and the with the new future was beauty. The characters whole and real, with complex emotions.

This is a great read, if you like history and sci-fi, this the book for you.
