The main charicters are Bean, Petra, Peter , and Achilles. Achilles has Patra captered and is trying to rule the enter human race. Bean goes in surch of Peter Wiggin, Ender's brother, for help to save Petra and to stop the war. There is murder and tragity, but also there is good. This book is an egxilierating page terner, where piece of the humen race hangs in the balece.”

While the story was still very compelling, Card started to lose me in this one with some rather silly and outlandish events. Bean's rival, Achilles, for example, negotiates peace between India and Pakistan in about 30 minutes. Listen, I know all these kids are ultra brilliant, but for some pre-pubescent child to negotiate peace between two nations that have pretty much hated each other since the beginning of time was just one bridge too far, in my opinion.”

At first I was disappointed because Card clearly turns away from science-fiction in this novel. While it still is clear that it is a future world, less focus is made on the science-fiction part and more on dealing with political events on earth being driven by the characters from the previous book, mainly bean. The bean series and the ender series can be read seperatly and you can start with either one: Ender's Game, or Ender's Shadow. Because the books parallel each other. ”

I'm loving the Bean series almost as much as the first two Ender books. Card presents well-rounded characters, a brilliant and convincing grasp on world politics, and plenty of action to balance his ever-though-provoking philosophy.”
