The entire Homecoming Saga is a sci-fi rendition of the Book of Mormon plot. I found it fascinating to watch the events unfold and relate them to the scriptural story. The most affecting part of the series, for me, was the retelling of the Alma the Younger story. Card's insight into the struggle he went through while in his long coma had me in tears with sympathy for him. It has expanded my understanding and deepened my appreciation for those who lived these experiences so many years ago.

Earthfall follows the Children of Wetchik as they embark to a new planet and as the troubles between Wetchik’s sons Nafai and Elemak escalate.

The plot follows the end of the first book of Nephi (in the Book of Mormon), in which Laman (Elemak) ties up Nephi (Nafai) on the journey to America. When they arrive in America, they begin to build their farms, and (in the Homecoming version) meet some creatures left behind by their distant ancestors.
