This was the first book I read of Francine Rivers, and this series is my favorite. I lost a lot of sleep reading these and could not put them down.

this books really touched me as a person and as a christian, they were a real joy to read and also very challenging to any christian. it makes you question how strong you are in your faith and if you would stand by the faith if you went through all that Hadassa did.

Oh my! I gave this book only 4 stars because it took me nearly 100 pages to decide I wanted to keep reading it. The beginning was rough for me . I was warned that it might be but to trudge on. Oh, I'm so glad I did! I'm not even sure what to say other than I loved this book! I consider myself a strong, faithful Christian but how often in my life has the name of Jesus been strangled down out of fear of how I'll be perceived. And I don't even have the threat of death looming in front of me for being Christian. The character of Hadassh will change the way I live my life as a Christian. May I be as bold as she ended up being. What a beautiful person she was!! I can't wait to start the 2nd book in this series to find out what will become of Marcus, Julia and Hadassah..........
