The sheer escapism offered up in the three novellas which comprises this book outweighed my need for intrigue and clever subtlety in the telling. The first story was pretty good and they got worse from there. I bought it because I love mermaids but no story ever went in depth enough for me to feel anything for the characters. I wanted something like The Little Mermaid and this was just another romance novel.

This is a collection of three stories spanning almost two thousand years. Off the coast of Scotland, there is a tiny island that is said to be enchanted by a siren. The children of Kell love forever when they find love and if they live on the island, the siren and their love will live for hundreds of years. But Kell is a dangerous place and is surrounded by treacherous waters. Many ships have sunk when drawing to close to and so, they avoid it. This is the story of three couples and how their lives are linked with that of Kell.

I really enjoyed the second story in this collection but didn't care much for the last one. I find Abe's books to be nice romantic stories and will continue to read more by her. The main characters in the life story just drove me a little crazy and I didn't care much for either of them which is why this book gets three stars instead of four.

This book is comprised of three stories all based upon a same beginning. The first story was really good. However, I was barely able to make it through the 2nd story. I finally got so tired of it I skipped to the 3rd story. That story was pretty good. Over all, if you don't have anything else in your pile to read, this is an ok one to pick up.

This is a great book. HUGE in width, it includes 3 different stories that all tie into each other. My personal favorite out of the 3 was the first one. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes mermaids, romance, and fantasy.

So what if a couple of the characters are stereotypical fairy tale characters, I happen to like Leila and Ronan’s unusual and unlikely romance — she’s an assassin hired to kill him, after all – and that is the saving grace of this book.

I read this book a few months back. I really ejoyed it a lot. I like how it went back in time and then over hundreds of years and then to the present. A real good love story.

This book is 3 stories in one. They are your typical romantical love stories. Everyone has great sex, have perfect bodies, are beyond beautiful..blah blah. But I did like the first story. The other two are so so.

    Inside Flap Copy
Shana Abé has entranced countless readers with her passion-filled novels of adventure, intrigue, and romance. Now the author of The Secret Swan delivers a gift from the sea: three hauntingly beautiful tales connected by a legend, a locket, and a love beyond time.

531 a.d.: The tiny island of Kell is said to be enchanted,
inhabited by an extraordinary creature who comforts shipwrecked sailors passing into the next world. Prince Aedan of the Isles believes in no such nonsense?until he awakens on Kell itself and meets the sensuous siren who rescued him from the sea.

1721: Ronan MacMhuirich, Earl of Kell, is the target of an unlikely assassin: Leila, a mysterious woman from an exotic land. But his irresistibly beautiful would-be slayer is in just as much danger as Ronan when she falls for this man with a magic of his own.

2004: What do you do when you inherit a Scottish island you never knew existed?and find yourself pursued by a handsome stranger who wants to buy it from you? That?s what happens to Ruri Kell when she accepts Iain MacInnes?s invitation to visit her birthright, and listens to a proposition as sinfully tempting as everything else about him.
Three seductive love stories, three passionate couples, all linked by one of the most romantic myths of all.
