“I loved this book! It was intriguing straight from the onset and I found it sooooo hard to put down because the end of every chapter left me desperate to know what happened as it takes you deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole of this fast-paced mystery-suspense novel. Its playing out across two different times. You've got the young female protagonist whose father has gone missing under strange circumstances and all she has is his journal from years ago when he went on a similar mission with a woman who turns out to be her mother (who has been absent throughout the protagonists whole life). So you have what's happening with this girl in the present time but then when she is reading the journal, it takes you back to her parents mission and detailing their adventure-quest. As you get further into the book, while gaining lots of historical information helpful to their quest, it only adds to create more layers of mystery.
Its a fabulously well-written book that takes you realistically through several countries - Holland, Hungary, Turkey & another one, which I can't say as it will give away part of the plot.
The only criticism I have is that the whole book was building up towards this big, imminent confrontation with a historical figure - but when this confrontation occurs, its over in about a page! A little anti-climactic, I reckon. But I'm focusing on the book as a whole for this review so I still give it 5 stars”
