I am so excited to have finally begun reading this.
So far, only four chapters of the 600+ hardbound, but already I’m obsessed—like the historians of the eponymous book, gripped by a deadly curiosity about Vlad the Impaler… this book reels out the thrills and historical references. Currently, a father and daughter tandem is being pulled in deeper, as they hop from library to library across Europe and Asia-minor, to … ?
    I’m thinking fanged mouth.

I never quit reading a book once I start it. Never. Except this one. Gave it a hundred pages, plus the last chapter, plus a middle chapter. Must be missing the vampire gene 'cause it bored me to death and I couldn't see investing that many hours of my life in characters I couldn't connect with and a plot that was ridiculous.

Very long book that was difficult at times, but really good! I really enjoyed this overall, especially the creepy elements and the question of 'how will this end?'

I recently finished reading this book and although it is a very good read and a well written "story", I found it a bit dragging along in some points. It involves Dracula but not in the vampire-legend sort of way, but in more of a historical perspective. If you're a history lover you will enjoy this book

I dont think this is an "Interview with a vampire" and should not be read like one of the fashionable reads in the Vamp genre. Probably because I'm someone who's not really in to horror fiction ing general and vamp books in particular, of great interest to me were the origin of the legend of Dracula and so on.....
But, you know what? There were moments which were truly scary, like that professor's encounter with Dracula or those creepy moments when the count follows the protoganist follows here across Europe.... A truly good read....
