“The St. Claire sisters sit on the cuff of society. With numerous marriage proposals, their rejections of all the suitors have not made them any more favorable in the eyes of high society. Sophie St. Claire has been pining over Clivesden for years while Julia never wants to fall in love. Julia has her best friend Benedict Revelstoke and she is content with her lot in life.
Benedict Revelstoke discovers that Clivesden has set his sights on Julia, in an attempt to spare his friend from this despicable man Benedict warns her off. Getting involved with Julia’s personal life makes Benedict realize that he truly has deep feelings for his childhood friend.
Sophia witnesses Clivesden in a romantic embrace with another woman and swoons. Rescued by the Earl of Highgate, she finds herself in a compromising position. Her mother immediately takes advantage of the situation and pushes for an engagement.
Sophie is engaged to the Earl of Highgate and Julia is being pursued by the man her sister loves.
The story was interesting, intriguing and well contrived. My favorite character was undoubtedly the Earl of Highgate, he truly was an amazing man... he put his past behind him and helped all those around him. I would of preferred the stories to be told separately focusing on each growing relationship by themselves, but in the end the conclusion was quit pleasurable.
