Anita just can't seem to catch a break. While trying to learn to control the ardeur, Belle Morte decides to sent her second 3 months early. She has also decided she wants Anita for herself, and if she can't have her, no one will. That is until the mother of all darkness takes notice and is intrigued with Anita. Oh my!

This one was full of conflict and chaos. But not in a bad way. Musette shows up 3 months early, bearing gifts. Although these gifts aren't meant to make the hosts happy, but rather to rile them up and make them angry/upset/scared in which it does work. Musette also has another secret in store for them, that she uses much much later.

While Anita is trying to deal with Musette and finding a way to send her home there have been several murders committed. Women have been brutally raped and murdered, torn apart in the process. The findings? Werewolf. This, this was a great story line. Not the cases themselves, although it is a good one, but the story that went along with it while it was happening.

Dolph and Zerbrowski get promoted. Dolph is still so angry with Anita for bringing a shifter to his promotion party (and angry for other reasons) he forces her out of her sick bed into a crime scene. Where she passes out, throws up and can't walk herself through the crime scene (that could have been contributed to Dolph dragging her up the stairs though). Dolph seems to be losing it. And fast. Not only did he drag her up the stairs, later he man handles her some more in another crime scene and Anita hits him. I can't tell you how much my breath left my body in shock. While they have had differences lately, it has never gotten this bad. Dolph has never hurt Anita before.

And the best part? Where do you think the title comes from? The color of JC's sheets. The sins committed there. Oh the sins! I have been waiting for Asher, JC and Anita to come together (no pun intended). And the best part? Anita is looking forward to the next time.

This book was awesome!!! Richard has turned into a real pain in the butt!!! I don't like him at all... come to think of it, never did. I have always wanted Anita to be with Jean-Claude... because he really loves her and goes completely against his grain to not demand anything from her so that she won't bolt.

I don't really like that she has so many men in her life now, but at least Jean-Claude is still there... stronger and more gorgeous than ever!

Richard went from being a softy to being an a**hole!!! Same for Dolph. Man, what was THAT about??? I really enjoyed meeting Micah -- WOW, talk about H-OHHH-TEEE. The progression of Anita's ability to express her feelings is interesting to 'watch.' Her relationship with Jean-Claude and now with Asher is my favorite subplot! Between Asher and Jean-Claude, Anita has the perfect man (even if they 'are' vamps)!! Asher brings the fire while Jean-Claude brings the cool. And even though Jean-Claude brings the 'cool,' we are seeing more of his emotions(?) as we get deeper into his relationship with Anita.

I am reading other series alternately with this one, but I have to say that Laurell K. keeps me coming back for more! I cannot stay away!

What i like abbout Anita Blake series is that every character in this series developed without loosing their basic character or if happened it's explained well.
My fav books of this series are book 1, 6,7, and 11.
