Together they embark on a journey that takes them to a magical lands where they meet marvelous creatures- and one ruthless villain. Along the way, they will discover allies in odd places, courage they thought they never had, and hidden destiny that changes everything.

  • Firedrake: A silver dragon who sets out to search for the Rim of Heaven, a mythical place where dragons can live in peace forever.
  • Sorrel: Sorrel is a brownie who accompanies Firedrake and Ben on a journey to the Rim of Heaven. She is also obsessed with mushrooms.
  • Firedrake: A young dragon who goes on a journey to find a new home for other dragons. One of the main characters.
  • Guinevere: She is the daughter of Barnabas Greenbloom.
  • Professor Barnabas Greenbloom: An archaeologist that meets Firedrake and his companions during their journey.
  • Maia: A dragon who is silver, and smaller than Firedrake.
  • Nettlebrand: An evil dragon whose scales are made from an invincible material and are the color of gold. He was created by alchemist and hunted other dragons. Wants to hunt Firedrake.
  • Zubeida Ghalib: An expert in dragons, finds the secret of the moon dew.
  • Graniteface: One of the four mountain dwarves that found Ben, Sorrel, and Firedrake near their mountain.
  • Stonebeard: A mountain dwarf. A bit braver than the other three dwarves in his group. selfish and greedy. Later becomes Nettlebrands Armour Cleaner.
  • Gilbert Graytail: A white rat that provided Firedrake, Sorrel and Ben a map for their journey. A cousin of Rosa, a rat who lives where Firedrake and Sorrel are from.
